Today, the issue of hunting is a hot-button issue. The passion and controversy over the "sport" of hunting is especially pronounced in Colorado because vast expanses of wilderness and open areas meet densely populated urban areas like Denver. The growing trends of vegetarianism, animal-rights activism, and the rise of supermarket chains all make hunting seem far less necessary than it did when the state was founded in 1876.
Because most people that hunt don't absolutely have to in order to eat food, many residents of Denver consider hunting to be "murder." What do you think?
In a paragraph that begins with a response TS, address this question in a comment below: Is the hunting of animals today the same as murder?

I think that hunting is murder because you are taking the life out of something. Not because they are animals means that they dont feel anything. It is a different type of murder but it is still as bad as killing someone.
ReplyDeleteI think that hunting is not considered murder because many people portray it is a sport. I believe that hunting isn't murder, because it can create food for the community. Also, if people didn't hunt, then the population of animals would be too high. If you lived in the country, you may not be close to a grocery store, or supermarket, so you need to hunt your food, so you wouldn't starve. Hunting isn't murder, because its not like your killing tons of animals, you are just killing 3 or 4 each year, because you may not have any luck when you go. I believe that hunting is not murder.
ReplyDeleteMy response to the short article "The case for hunting" Is that hunting is not murder. The definition of murder is "The unlawful premeditated of one human being by another." When someone kills an animal, its usually for food or something they need. They usually arent just killing the animal for fun. When one human kills another for self defense, its not considered a bad thing because your doing something to help yourself. If you kill the animal because you need something from them, its not murder.
ReplyDelete"The Case of Hunting" is not murder because I know that if you don't have a permit than it's poaching, but if you kill and animal just to kill it than it's not murder its... uncivilized. but we have the right of freedom of speech, so if someone wants to say it's murder than to them it's murder.
ReplyDeleteI think that hunting of animals is not the same as murder because hunting can prevent overpopulation and help keep us safe. Even though while you go hunting you kill animals I think their is a good to hunting.. I think that because if nobody hunted animals then there population would overpopulate. If they did this could make us unsafe. This could cause animals to be rooming the streets and interfering with suburban life. On the other hand if hunting is done too often then the species of animals could go extinct and this would be a negative for the environment. In general I think that hunting should be allowed but be regulated.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the article "A Case for Hunting", i think that it can be considered murder if it for sport. If you are camping or living in the wilderness, then you need to eat, that's called survival but just for sport, you don't just kill people for the fun of it. I have never killed an animal, but if i needed to survive, i will kill an animal for food. But as full blown murder, i don't think so. Look at Nature, animals kill each other for food, or for dominance. It nature, but don't go around killing things.
ReplyDeleteI believe hunting is murder because it's the action of taking a life away, even if it's an animal. Unless one has a hunting license and is hunting specifically for food, then it should be illegal. Killing innocent animals for fun or as a sport is incredibly cruel and unfair to the animal. It is for this reason that I believe hunting animals is the same as murder.
ReplyDeleteThe Case of Hunting, does show that hunting is murder of animals because humans are killing things we don't need to kill. Although, I personally think that hunting is not murder. Humans need meat. Animals are meat, and they are just animals. They live and die just like humans do. They just may be killed before they were suppose to die, and there is nothing wrong with killing an animal even if the article may express otherwise.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the post about "The Case for Hunting", I believe that hunting isn't murder because it is considered a sport, and there are rules about hunting such as not being able to hunt at a certain time and not being able to hunt a certain animal. Some people think of hunting as "murder", because you are taking away another animals life, but I think it isn't murder because hunting is allowed and isn't illegal during certain times of the year but can also be considered murder if someone was to hunt during a time they weren't allowed. Another reason why I think it isn't murder is because hunting has been around for a long time now and has been a way of food for some people. Overall I think hunting isn't murder but could be if it was breaking the rules of the hunting seasons.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, hunting is just a hobby, I don't think that it would be considered "murder". People just do it to spend time with family and do what they love, to like go camping and then go hunting at the same time to spend a long weekend or something like that, A lot of people have different opinions on this, but I would say that in my opinion killing an animal is a lot different than actually killing a human being.

ReplyDeleteAfter reading "The Case for Hunting", I think that hunting is kind of the same as murder because it is killing. There is really no difference between killing a person and killing an animal, so it doesn't make sense that one is viewed as okay, but the other is viewed as a horrible crime. We don't depend on it for food or anything either. The main purpose, really, is for fun. It's not fair that w see ourselves as better than them and we think it's okay to kill them as a hobby. Hunting animals is not as extreme as murder, but it is still a form of murder and should not be encouraged.
ReplyDeleteI think that hunting and murder could be the same and could not be the same because, When you are using it in a good way as in eating the animal after you kill it. It could also be bad because killing the animal and then leaving it there and killing it for no reason could be like murder.
ReplyDeleteThe hunting of animals today is not the same as murder. It is killing but almost all hunters use the meat of the animal as food. Very few hunters kill for the sake of killing. To deny people the right to hunting seems almost un-American, because if you want to eat venison, shouldn't you be able to go hunt? With all the licensing required, the state controls how much hunting is done, so animal population stays in good numbers. Hunting has also been a part of many families way of life for decades and the government shouldn't be able to force you to stop. Animal rights activists would argue all living things are equal, and that humans have no right to hunt, but then why doesn't anyone care about fishing? It is nature for the predators to kill the prey. Banning hunting would go against the laws of nature themselves.
ReplyDeleteIn Colorado, I believe that hunting should not be considered murder as long as people don't just kill the animals to kill, because when you kill an animal, you should use it for your survival. Like the Indians did long ago in the plains, I believe that when hunting animals it is necessary to use the animal in your best way possible so that the animal's death is not a waste. But when someone kills a deer and lets it rot and doesn't use the animal it should be considered murder.
ReplyDeleteI think that the hunting of animals today is not the same as murder because the animal is still food. People that hunt may not need the food but food is still needed to survive. Hunting is also no different than buying meat at the store because it still comes from animals and they are still killed for meat. Hunting is also not murder because without it there would be no meat to eat.
ReplyDeleteI think that hunting animals as of today is counted as murder, but at the same time, it does not - it only depends on how many animals the hunter kills. In my opinion, if the hunter kills more than 3, or more, small and/or big animals, it should be counted as murder because too many animals are being killed by one person. However, if the hunter can maintain shooting only 3 or less animals as big as deer or as small as birds, then it wouldn't be counted as murder because they only hunted a few amount of animals. If they go over a limit, I think it should be counted as a crime for going overboard with hunting.
ReplyDeleteTo answer the question in the article, The Case for Hunting Hunting is only murder if you take it to far, I believe that if you hunt once a year and kill one or two animals fine, its a sport, but, if you go out everyday kill three or four animals, it is no longer a friendly sport, it has turned into murder people wonder why animals go extinct yes it is a little bit of the circle of life but it is ninety percent people going out and seeing animals and shooting them just because its there, I believe that if you are going to hunt for sport or not you should only hunt the animals that we have a lot of or the animals that could cause harm to you, or to others.
ReplyDeleteI think hunting is not murder because hunting has a reasonable reason for it, hunting gets our food and is not necessarily illegal in some areas but murder is illegal all out and murder is just someone to show there frustration about someone.
ReplyDeleteI do not consider hunting to be murder considering that many hunters make their livings off of hunting the game. These hunters may hunt for food and materials for clothing, some may hunt so they can make money selling to food companies. Hunting in moderation also helps keep animal population in check so they don't exhaust their resources in their environments and moves into the cities and cause incidents and accidents. So in conclusion, no I do not see hunting animals as murder, in moderation, because many people still make a living off of the sport of hunting.
ReplyDeleteI think hunting is murder because they are killing an animal and eating it afterwards. I think that some people think it is murder but others think it is not murder.
ReplyDeleteI believe hunting is not murder because eating a chicken sandwich is not considered bad is it? I believe killing a elk for food is the same as killing a cow for food. However killing and not using it for food I believe is wrong.
